Dr. Rudolf Steiner

The Austrian scientist, mathematician, philosopher and educationist, Dr. Rudolf Steiner dedicated his life to the understanding of the human being. In his lifetime he regenerated thought in agriculture, medicine, the performing arts, philosophy, natural science and particularly education. He began to refer to his teachings as "Anthroposophy" (knowledge of the true nature of the human being) and founded the Anthroposophical Society to help carry on his work.

Steiner Education or Waldorf Education (as is known in Europe) began at the request of a German industrialist, Emil Molt, for the children of his employees at his Waldorf- Astoria factory in Stuttgart, Gemany, in the year 1919. Since then Dr. Steiner's educational movement has spread worldwide and today there are over 900 schools, 1,500 kindergartens, 350 curative centres and 60 teacher training institutes in nearly 50 countries.
